How do you put a link in your TikTok bio? In this article, I’ll show you how to add a website to your TikTok profile. I’ll also discuss what this means for the types of videos available on TikTok.
Every Android user received the link in bio option on their TikTok profiles in March 2020, but iOS users may still be missing features depending on the person’s account. In 2021, it appears that the majority of users on both iOS and Android devices have access to links in bio for their TikTok accounts, though the rollout for iOS users is not yet complete.
If you are able to add a link in your bio, this is what it will look like:
The website URL appears between the Follow button and the TikTok video grid. It’s also in a bold font, which makes it stand out from the rest of your bio text.
In this article, I’ll show you how to add a personal or business website to your TikTok bio. I’ll also discuss what this means for your TikTok account and how you can take advantage of it. This is How to add a website to TikTok.
How Do You Put a Link in Your TikTok Bio
Check to see if you are part of the rollout. Only some iOS users in our office have access to the “website” field when they click edit bio, whereas all Android users do. Some accounts (including our business account, @Kapwing) have only recently gained access.
Choose the Edit Profile option. Click the Edit profile button on your TikTok profile page.
Add your link: You’ll find a field to “Add a website to your profile” in the “Website” line, right under “Bio.” Copy and paste any URL you want to appear on your profile. You don’t need the “https”; simply “www” will suffice. I added kapwing.com as well.
That’s it! The URL you entered will now appear on your TikTok profile. I can see from browsing TikTok that many people have discovered and are using the link in the bio.
What exactly does this mean for TikTok?
Adding a website to a TikTok profile doesn’t make much of a difference for most people. However, it is an indication that the TikTok platform is maturing. Here are some predictions for how website links will alter the TikTok experience.
To begin, more brands will create TikTok accounts and begin publishing viral content there. Previously, it was more difficult for a publisher to drive traffic to their own website because TikTok only allowed links to Instagram and YouTube. Companies now have a stronger reason to invest in TikTok content, because a viral TikTok video can lead to more people clicking the URL to go directly to a website.
Although some may believe that this dilutes TikTok’s quality because it will be more crowded with brands, I believe it will significantly improve content quality because professional videographers and creators will have a reason to stick around. We used to invest in great TikTok content, for example, but we stopped because the time spent wasn’t worth it because no one who visited our profile could link to our website. They will, however, be able to do so now.

Second, TikTok attribution will be simplified, making the platform more appealing to influencers and celebrities. Even the most popular TikTok creators struggle to demonstrate that their content has an impact on people’s behavior without a website URL. As a result, convincing brands and other people with money to promote TikTok content is difficult. The URL, on the other hand, establishes a direct connection between a TikTokers profile and the website, making it easier to demonstrate business value.
As a result, TikTok users can expect to see more sponsored content on TikTok in the future, much like how Instagram and Stories have evolved over time. More affiliate links, referrals, and bit.ly will appear.
Third, the URLs will direct users away from the app and to other websites such as Venmo, Snap, or email.
TikTok, on the other hand, is still relatively unknown territory for websites and professional creators. You can’t add a link to a single story, and it’s impossible to build a following gradually over time. TikTokers must instead continue to strive for global virality, which is extremely difficult for niche brands and personalities to achieve. There is very little impact to having a larger fan base on TikTok until TikTok promotes the videos made by the people you follow, which means creators don’t stay around and put in the work to grow their fan count.
